During this academic year, I am fulfilling the position of the chair of the editorial board at Radboud Annals of Medical Students, better known as RAMS. As the chair of the editorial board, I am responsible for the content of the journal together with my colleagues and our amazing team of editors. Besides that, I facilitate and improve the communication between the general board and the editors-in-chief as effective communication is key to success! Writing and publishing articles is a significant part of being a professional in the field of scientific research. Therefore, it is essential to be acquainted with this process at an early stage of your career. So with RAMS, I hope to enthuse and encourage my fellow (medical) students at the Radboud University in writing articles and expanding their knowledge. If you are eager to boost your curriculum vitae, want to know more about RAMS and are interested in writing and publishing an
article, do not hesitate and send me an e-mail or message!
Scientific Editor-in-Chief – Mèlanie Reijnaers
Hello everyone! My name is Mèlanie Reijnaers, first-year master student Biomedical Sciences, and in the upcoming academic year, I will fulfil the position of Scientific Editor-in-chief of the Radboud Annals of Medical Students, alias RAMS! In this function, I am responsible for the academic content of the journal. I ensure that the journal has sufficient articles, and the content is journalistically objective. Here, I evaluate and edit the articles and confirm whether the spelling, grammar, and writing style are of excellent quality. My goal is to increase the success of the journal and enhance the dissemination of research and scholarly articles among the students at the Radboud University. However, most importantly, I aim to encourage students to develop their own intrinsic motivation to write about (medical) science and, of course, I aim to expand and deepen the knowledge of every other student reading this journal! If you want to boost your curriculum vitae and want to get acquainted with the publishing model, do not hesitate and send me an e-mail!
Editorial Editor-in-Chief – Yfke Prins
Hello everyone! My name is Yfke Prins. Currently, I am having a gap year before starting my clinical rotations in the next academic year. However, I will not spend that time doing nothing; in the meanwhile, I will fulfill the position of editorial-editor-in-chief of the Radboud Annals of Medical Students, also known as RAMS. This means that I am responsible for the editorial articles in the editions. I provide feedback on the structure, grammar and contents and aid the authors with the writing process where necessary, in order to ensure that the editorial articles in RAMS are of the highest possible quality. I am sure I will gain experience with the publishing model, but what enthusiasts me most is the possibility to aid other students in their development as a biomedical researcher or research-oriented clinician and increase their knowledge of the writing and publishing process. If you want to combine creativity with research-oriented experience or if you are interested to contribute to RAMS in any other way, do not hesitate to contact me!
